Interpellation till europeiska kommissionen om Bisfenol

A number of countries have adopted measures (Denmark, Canada, and shortly France) to ban the presence of Bisphenol A (BPA) in infant feeding bottles, in view of the possible low dose effects on brain and behavioural development.

Industry has in addition voluntarily withdrawn BPA from such articles in a number of additional countries (notably in the USA and Norway).

The National Assembly in France has just adopted a draft law banning the substance in the same kind of articles.

Taking into account that this concerns children, European consumers are legitimately worried.

In view of EFSA’s opinions and of these developments, has the European Commission the intention to ban BPA in infant feeding bottles produced in the EU or imported from third countries?
